The Teachings

In this Festival, Gen-la Jampa will grant the blessing empowerment of Medicine Buddha and give commentary to the practice.

Medicine Buddha is the embodiment of all enlightened healing, and a reflection of our own potential for enlightenment. He shows us who we can become.

Through the practice of Medicine Buddha, we can effect profound and lasting transformation of ourselves and others. It is said that the power of this practice becomes greater as confusion and conflict in this world increase, so this practice is especially vital for us now. We can become medicine for this world.

  • Saturday: Morning meditation followed by the empowerment of the Medicine Buddha. In the afternoon commentary will be given by Gen-la Jampa
  • Sunday & Monday: Morning meditation followed by two commentaries/teachings with Gen-la Jampa

US World Peace Temple

The Festival will be held at Kadampa Meditation Center New York (KMC NY), the national temple for the New Kadampa Tradition in the United States and one of only four traditional Kadampa temples in the world.

Located just two hours outside of New York City, amid 82 acres of lush woodland in the colorful Upper Delaware River Valley, KMC NY is an ideal setting for the US Festival. In addition to the spiritual program, Festival-goers will have plenty of time to enjoy being with spiritual friends, hikes on one of many nature trails, and space to be still and introspective. Lunch and dinner are offered by the Festival. Delicious desserts, snacks, coffee, tea and cold drinks are offered in the World Peace Café located within the World Peace Temple. Light fare and meals also available at the Nectar Café located in the Main House.

About Festivals and Celebrations

Every year the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU) organizes a world wide program of special courses on Buddhism and meditation that explain how to apply Buddha’s teachings (Dharma) to modern living. The program includes International Festivals, National Festivals and Dharma Celebrations.

These Festivals and Dharma Celebrations provide a precious opportunity to study and practise the special presentation of modern Buddhism taught by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the Founder of the NKT.

The events vary in length from two days to two weeks, but whatever their duration they all offer a vacation with a difference – a chance to break free from the hectic routines of daily life and focus on the things that really matter. You will come away not only refreshed and relaxed but also spiritually re-energised. For festivals and celebrations world-wide, visit kadampafestivals.org.
